Kevin is a world-class cricket player. He was born in South Africa to an English mother. His playing record includes hitting 158 on the final day of the last test at the Oval in the 2005 Ashes, securing England a first Ashes triumph in 18 years.

He is one of the fastest ever English batsmen to reach 4000 test runs. His highest test score of 227 averages over 50 in test matches. His amazing reverse sweep for 6 off Muralitharan at Edgbaston became his trademark switch hit, another element of his game that rates him in the highest levels of World Class Batsmen.

Throughout his career Kevin Pietersen has accrued an impressive list of cricketing Awards and Test match performance records.

In 2009 Kevin became one of the World’s most expensive cricketers in the IPL (Indian Premier League) auction, playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore.

After England’s masterful win of the 2010 ICC World T20 he was named player of the tournament.

Playing for the Ashes in Adelaide in 2010 Kevin was again instrumental in the team effort, hitting England went on to win the Ashes, making him a 3-time Ashes winner. In 2011 Kevin was auctioned to the Deccan Chargers IPL team.

Pietersen gained several awards for his performances in the 2005 season. He was named both the ICC ODI Player of the Year and Emerging Player of the Year in 2005, and was one of the five Wisden Cricketers of the Year (alongside team mates Simon Jones and Matthew Hoggard) for his role in the successful Ashes series against Australia. Along with the rest of the England team, he was decorated in the 2006 New Year Honours list, being awarded the MBE for his role in the successful Ashes series. He also played for the ICC World XI in the 2005 ICC Super Series against Australia.

Off the pitch Kevin’s passion for sport prevails; watching Chelsea play, following Rugby Union and Formula One.

On August 24 2012, ESPN STAR Sports (ESS) confirmed that Pietersen will join their commentary team for presentation and analysis during the ICC World T20 tournament in Sri Lanka that starts on September 18.

In addition Kevin is an Ambassador for Barnardo’s children’s charity.
