Victoria Pendleton Glams up for an A List Party

Britain’s golden girl Victoria Pendleton looks unrecognisable from the flushed lycra-clad image that captured the hearts of the nation when she stormed to victory in the Velodrome at the London Olympics.

The 31-year-old double Olympic champion was dressed to impress as she headed an A-list celebrity line-up at a party in Mayfair.

The cyclist, who immediately retired after London 2012, was the star of the show in a figure-hugging gold dress with sequinned panels and heavy eye make-up.

“When it comes to make-up I like to be quite experimental,” Victoria says. “People are always surprised, as athletes don’t tend to wear much make-up or have their hair done, but I’m like ‘yeah, let’s give it a go, what could possibly go wrong?”

She joined the Queen’s grand-daughter Zara Phillips, who won an Olympic silver medal in the equestrian, actress Kelly Brook, Kylie Minogue and Cristiano Ronaldo’s girlfriend, Irina Shayk.

Pendleton also chatted with fellow double gold-winning cyclist Laura Trott, 20, who is set to assume her mentor’s title as queen of the Velodrome.

The star-studded crowd at Samsung Galaxy party at One Mayfair together owned seven gold medals and two silvers. Trott, cycling’s omnium and team sprint champion, arrived with new boyfriend Jason Kenny, a three-time Olympic champion.
