Strongbow challenges fans to face Jimmy Anderson

Strongbow cider is giving fans the chance to face an over from fast bowler James ‘Jimmy’ Anderson.

The EARN IT campaign is offering 10 finalists training by a top coach, with one of them going on to face the England cricketer on the pitch.

With the Ashes fast approaching, Jimmy says, ‘We all know someone who, when they’re watching sport, thinks they could score that penalty, catch that ball or a hit a fast bowler to the boundary. Well… this is their chance to step up and prove it by surviving six of my quickest deliveries.’

The challenge takes place later this summer, but applications close on June 23rd 2013. Entries can be made here by all those 18 and over.

Those wanting to step up and face James can apply at Strongbow.com. Ten finalists will then be chosen to take part in the ‘EARN IT’ training process, where a top coach will help them prepare to take on the bowling legend. One lucky winner will then have the chance to show they can ‘walk the walk’  – by walking out to the middle to face James later this summer – and emerging with their wicket intact.

Strongbow brand director Michael Gillane says: “With the Ashes coming up fast, there will be thousands of people all over the country picturing themselves facing a Test match bowler in full flight. We’re giving one lucky winner the chance to take on this once in a lifetime challenge but they’ll have to prove they are ready to ‘EARN IT’ first.

“For those who don’t think they can handle playing against James, they’ll be plenty more chances to try their hand against other stars in other Strongbow  ‘EARN IT’ challenges throughout the year.”
