Australian TV bosses are hoping to make a film about cricketer Shane Warne’s relationship with Elizabeth Hurley.
Insiders have said that his cricket career and stormy private life are ready-made for movie treatment, and Australia’s Channel 9 has confirmed its interest. His off-field romance with the Bedazzled actress would also feature heavily in the project.
Australia’s Channel 9 are planning the movie – which could also be exported over to the UK – following on from the success of Howzat!, a mini-series loosely based on Shane.
The sequel to Howzat! is being fast-tracked and casting will soon be underway to find stars to play Shane, Elizabeth and the sportsman’s ex-wife Simone Callahan, with who he has children Brooke, 14, Summer, ten, and 13-year-old Jackson.
“From a casting perspective, there’s a huge amount of potential there,” one casting agent said.
“But finding the right actors is key because these are characters that much of the Australian public have grown up with.”
Names in the frame include Eddie Perfect, who played Shane in the stage production of ‘Shane Warne: The Musical‘, Zoe Tuckwell-Smith and Madeline West for Simone and former ‘Neighbours’ star Nicola Charles as Elizabeth.
Shane, 42, has said on Twitter: “I’m so lucky to have found a beautiful, caring future wife in Elizabeth Hurley, she is also a wonderful future step mum to my three children.
“Yep, feeling the love today guys & thankful for such thoughtful & caring children to keep me and Elizabeth Hurley happy. Happy family = the best.”
