Nintendo is recruiting a team of famous females for a new US advertising campaign. Glee’s Dianna Agron, Modern Family’s Sarah Hyland, and Olympic Gold Medallist Gabrielle Douglas are starring in the Play As You Are campaign which launches on October 1 and sees them talking about their love for the wide array of games available on the Nintendo 3DS and 3DS XL.
Gabrielle appears in the ad spot for New Super Mario Bros. 2, Dianna stars in the ad for new Art Academy: Lessons for Everyone! as well as Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask, and Sarah fronts the ads for Style Savvy: Trendsetters and Sparkle Snapshots 3D.
As a Mario fan, Douglas leaped at the opportunity to work with Nintendo for its new Nintendo 3DS “Play As You Are” campaign, which is designed to show women and girls that you don’t need to be gamer to enjoy Nintendo 3DS. Nintendo offers games and features suited for a wide range of interests and personalities.
Gabrielle became a household name after winning two gold medals as a member of the U.S. women’s gymnastics team at the London 2012 Olympic Games. She will appear in broadcast advertising and go for a different kind of gold in New Super Mario Bros. 2 – a new hand-held adventure that challenges players to collect mountains of gold coins as they discover new levels, new power-ups and fun multiplayer options.
The two-time Olympic Gold medalist will have the first commercial out of the blocks for New Super Mario Bros. 2 while Agron and Hyland will also have commercials coming out.
“These women are all amazing role models with their own unique tastes and talents,” said Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. “They know firsthand how Nintendo 3DS can keep them entertained and engaged wherever they go. We think young girls and women of all ages will enjoy hearing what they have to say about their favorite games and activities on Nintendo 3DS.”
