Sporting icon David Beckham has been revealed as the face of the latest Sky Sports ad campaign, in which the former Manchester United footballer is seen watching the channels on TV, laptop, smartphone and mobile tablet in various locations, to demonstrate the ‘convenience and flexibility’ of being able to watch at any time, in any place.
The TV campaign featuring Beckham, who signed up to be a Sky Sports brand ambassador earlier 2013, underscores how seriously BSkyB is taking the threat of BT, whose brand ambassadors include Robin van Persie, Gareth Bale and Joe Hart.
Sky Sports’ new campaign features multiple Beckham’s showcasing the multiscreen availability of the broadcaster’s output – including TV, laptop and mobile.
BT is expected to ramp up its promotion of its BT Sport channels from 26th July 2013.
BSkyB last week muscled out BT to secure key matches at the start of the Premier League season, including Manchester United’s key clashes with other top teams.
However, BT could have a strong end to the season, as it has only exercised five of its 18 first picks on matches.
